Everything you need to know before your visit — or between visits.
Your First Visit
New to Bodhi? Start here.
We’re a multi-modal wellness center in St. Matthews, Louisville. That means we offer eight different therapies under one roof — salt rooms, Siberian cedar barrels, contrast therapy, massage, Shirodhara, yoga, and more. Think of it as a place where you can do one thing or combine several, depending on what your body needs that day. Physician-founded, locally owned.
If you’re not sure, our Discovery Session ($80) is built for exactly that. It pairs the salt room with a Siberian cedar barrel session so you experience two different things and get a feel for the space. Most people walk out knowing what they want to come back for. You can also just book whatever catches your eye — there’s no wrong answer.
It depends on the service:
Salt room, salt booth, halo-yoga: Comfortable clothing. For skin benefits, wear shorts or a t-shirt so salt particles can reach your skin.
Cedar barrel: Swimsuit or undergarments. You sit on a towel inside the barrel.
Contrast therapy: Swimsuit for the sauna and cold plunge.
Massage & Shirodhara: We provide a robe. You’ll change on-site.
We provide towels, robes, and everything else you need. Just bring yourself.
We recommend it, especially for massage, Shirodhara, and weekend time slots. You can book online through our booking page or call/text us at (502) 252-1030. Walk-ins are welcome when we have availability.

Salt Therapy
About our salt room, salt booth, and halotherapy in general.
Halotherapy is dry salt therapy. A machine called a halogenerator grinds pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride into tiny micro-particles and disperses them into the room. As you relax, you inhale these particles and they land on your skin. The salt reaches deep into the lungs, bronchi, and bronchioles, while also penetrating the layers of the skin. It’s a natural, drug-free therapy that supports respiratory health, skin conditions, better sleep, and overall relaxation.
The salt room is a larger space where you recline in a lounge chair for 45 minutes. It seats multiple guests and is available for private bookings (up to 8 people). The Salt & Red Light Booth is a private single-person booth that combines halotherapy with red light therapy panels in 20 minutes. The booth is quicker, completely private, and adds the benefit of red light therapy. Both use the same pharmaceutical-grade salt dispersed by a halogenerator.
For general wellness, once a week is a great rhythm. If you’re addressing specific respiratory or skin concerns, two to three sessions per week can help. Salt therapy is cumulative — each session builds on the last, similar to how consistent exercise produces better results than occasional workouts.
If you have mild symptoms — runny nose, light congestion, a cough — salt therapy can actually help. The salt particles thin mucus, clear sinuses, and have natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. For mild symptoms, we recommend booking the salt booth (it’s private) rather than the shared salt room. If you have a fever or more severe symptoms, please reschedule so other guests aren’t exposed.
Many of our guests come specifically because of asthma, seasonal allergies, or chronic sinus issues — especially during Louisville’s allergy seasons. Halotherapy is natural, drug-free, and non-invasive. That said, salt therapy is a complementary wellness practice, not a medical treatment. We always recommend discussing it with your doctor if you have specific concerns, and never discontinuing prescribed medications without medical guidance.
Siberian Cedar Barrels
Louisville’s only cedar barrel therapy. Learn more →
It’s a handcrafted barrel made from imported Siberian red cedar. You sit inside on a small bench while warm herbal steam fills the barrel around your body. Your head stays outside in fresh air the entire time, so you breathe easily and comfortably. Sessions are 45 minutes at $65. Bodhi Salt Center is the only facility in Louisville with Siberian cedar barrels.
In a sauna, your entire body and head are surrounded by heat, which can make breathing difficult and feel intense. In the cedar barrel, your head stays cool in fresh air while your body receives the steam. It’s far more comfortable. The cedar wood also releases natural aromatic compounds you don’t get in a standard sauna, and we add custom herbal infusions formulated by Meridian Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine, a Louisville practice with over 200 raw Chinese medicinals.
Most people who worry about this are surprised at how comfortable it is. Your head is completely outside the barrel with full visibility of the room. You can talk, look around, and breathe fresh air. It feels more like wearing a warm blanket than being enclosed. If you have concerns, mention it when you arrive — your host will make sure you feel at ease before starting.
It’s the practice of alternating between heat and cold. At Bodhi, you move between our infrared salt sauna — which includes red light therapy panels and a halogenerator dispersing salt air — and a cold plunge maintained at 45–55°F. The hot-to-cold cycling improves circulation, reduces inflammation, and supports nervous system recovery. Sessions are approximately 60 minutes at $65.
It’s your session — you control the pace. Many first-timers start with shorter dips and build up over time. Some people skip the cold plunge entirely on their first visit and just use the infrared sauna with salt air and red light. There’s no pressure. You’ll find your own rhythm.
Yes. Standalone cold plunge sessions are available for $20. No sauna required.
Massage & Shirodhara
Our practitioner-led services.
Our therapists tailor each session to your body. Techniques include deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage, and nervous system calming work. You don’t need to choose in advance — your therapist assesses your tension patterns and selects the right approach. Available in 60 minutes ($120), 90 minutes ($165), or as a couples massage ($240). Shirodhara is an Ayurvedic therapy where a continuous stream of warm herbal oil flows over your forehead — the area sometimes called the “third eye.” At Bodhi, this is combined with a heated red light therapy mat underneath you. It’s one of the most deeply calming experiences we offer. Sessions are 60 minutes at $180. A 3-pack is available for $480. See details →
Absolutely — that’s one of the best parts of being a multi-modal center. Many guests pair a cedar barrel session with massage ($170 Cedar + Massage combo), or add a salt room session before or after. Shirodhara also pairs beautifully with the cedar barrel ($225 combo, saves $20). Ask about combo pricing when you book.
It’s yoga practiced inside our salt room while the halogenerator disperses salt air. You get the benefits of breathwork and movement while breathing pharmaceutical-grade salt particles. Dasha teaches all classes — she has 10+ years of experience, is trauma-informed, and welcomes all levels including prenatal and postpartum. Classes are 60 minutes.
We offer three styles: Halo-Yoga (a mindful slow-paced flow with emphasis on breath and body awareness), Restorative (deeply restful, supported by props), and Slow Flow (gentle transitions between poses). All styles are accessible to beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
Group classes are $20 per class or $50 for a 3-class pack. Private sessions are $95 (solo) or $129 (couples). Members get unlimited group classes at no additional cost.
Yes. Salt therapy is natural, non-invasive, and safe for children of all ages. Our Kids’ Salt Room is a separate, dedicated room — not a corner of the adult space. Children can play freely in a salt-filled environment while breathing the same pharmaceutical-grade salt air that supports respiratory health and skin conditions.
Yes. An adult accompanies children into the Kids’ Salt Room at no extra cost. Some parents use the time to relax and breathe the salt air alongside their kids.
A Play Date is a group booking for up to 4 kids plus 4 adults in the Kids’ Salt Room for $70. It’s popular for birthday playdates, friend groups, and families who want to share the experience. The kids think it’s a playground. You know it’s clearing their lungs.
This is one of the things parents love about Bodhi. While your children are in the Kids’ Salt Room (with another adult supervising), you could book a cedar barrel session, a massage, or even contrast therapy. Call us at (502) 252-1030 and we’ll help coordinate timing.

Health & Safety
What to know about cleanliness, conditions, and safety.
Three layers of protection: continuous air filtration that purifies and circulates the air, sanitization of all surfaces and seating after every session using eco-friendly antibacterial solutions, and the natural antimicrobial properties of salt itself. Salt inhibits bacteria and mold growth on surfaces. It’s one of the reasons halotherapy environments are inherently clean.
No. Our services are complementary wellness practices — they work alongside your existing care, not as replacements. We never recommend discontinuing prescribed medications or treatments. If you have specific medical conditions or concerns, please consult your healthcare provider before starting any new therapy. Our founder is a physician and takes this distinction seriously.
Salt therapy is generally well-tolerated, but people with certain conditions should check with their doctor first: active tuberculosis, coughing up blood, severe hypertension, or certain acute lung conditions. When in doubt, ask your healthcare provider. We’re happy to discuss any concerns before your session.
