Therapeutic Massage
Bodywork That Listens — St. Matthews, Louisville

Your therapist spends the first few minutes just feeling where you hold tension. Then they choose the right approach — deep tissue, trigger point, lymphatic work — based on what your body is telling them. You can also receive your massage inside our active salt room, breathing salt air while they work.

Tailored to You. Every Time.

You don’t need to know the difference between deep tissue and myofascial release. Your therapist assesses your tension patterns, range of motion, and areas of concern before every session, then selects the right combination of techniques. What your body needs on a Tuesday in March might be completely different from what it needs on a Saturday in June.

Release

Deep tissue and trigger point work for chronic tension, stubborn knots, and the kind of tightness that lingers.

Restore

Myofascial release and lymphatic drainage to support recovery, reduce swelling, and improve range of motion.

Reset

Nervous system calming techniques that help your body settle out of stress mode and into rest.

Something we love offering: You can receive your massage inside our active halotherapy salt room. While your therapist works, the air carries pharmaceutical-grade salt particles that support respiratory clarity and skin health — two therapies in one quiet session.

What to Expect

Your massage session at Bodhi, step by step.

Arrive and settle in

Check in at the front desk and let us know how you’re feeling. If it’s your first visit, your therapist will spend a few minutes learning about your body — where you hold tension, any injuries, what you’re hoping for. You’ll change into a robe in a private space.

Arrive 5–10 minutes early for your first session

A conversation with your body

Your therapist checks in with your tension patterns, range of motion, and areas of concern. From there, they draw on deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage, and nervous system calming techniques — choosing the combination that fits what’s showing up today.

60 or 90 minutes of unhurried work

The 60-minute session covers two or three key areas with enough time for whole-body relaxation. The 90-minute session gives your therapist room to work comprehensively — full body with extra time on problem areas. Couples receive side-by-side 60-minute sessions with two therapists simultaneously.

Take your time coming back

There’s no rush to leave. Change at your pace, drink some water or tea, and let the session settle in. If you want to extend your visit, the salt room or a cedar barrel session pairs beautifully with massage.

How Therapeutic Massage Works at Bodhi

Rather than asking you to pick from a menu of massage styles, your therapist blends techniques based on what they feel in your body. They might use deep tissue on your shoulders, myofascial release on your lower back, and lymphatic drainage on your legs — all in the same session. It’s a more intuitive way to work, and it’s how most of our guests prefer it once they’ve experienced it.

You also have the option to receive bodywork inside our active halotherapy salt room. The halogenerator disperses pharmaceutical-grade salt particles into the air while your therapist works. The salt has natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that support respiratory health and skin conditions — so you get two therapies in one quiet session.

Deep Tissue Massage

Sustained pressure targeting the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Effective for chronic tension, postural imbalances, and areas of long-held tightness. Your therapist works slowly and deliberately, allowing the tissue to release at its own pace rather than forcing it. This is the technique most requested by guests dealing with desk-related tension, athletic recovery, and chronic pain.

Myofascial Release

Gentle, sustained pressure on the fascial connective tissue to relieve pain and restore range of motion. Fascia is the thin tissue that wraps around every muscle, organ, and nerve in your body. When it becomes restricted — from injury, inflammation, or repetitive movement — it creates pulling sensations and pain that can show up far from the actual restriction. Myofascial release addresses the root cause, not just the symptom. Particularly helpful for people who feel “stuck” or restricted in movement.

Trigger Point Therapy

Focused pressure on specific hyperirritable spots in muscle tissue that refer pain to other areas of the body. A trigger point in your upper trapezius, for example, can cause headaches. A trigger point in your glute can mimic sciatica. Your therapist identifies these points by feel and applies sustained pressure until the tissue releases. Common for tension headaches, jaw clenching, and radiating shoulder pain.

Lymphatic Drainage Support

Light, rhythmic techniques that encourage the movement of lymph fluid through the body. Unlike blood, lymph doesn’t have a pump — it relies on muscle contraction and manual stimulation to move. Lymphatic drainage supports immune function, reduces swelling and water retention, and can be particularly beneficial during postpartum recovery, after illness, or for guests dealing with inflammation.

Nervous System Calming

Techniques aimed at helping your nervous system downshift from the stress response. If you carry tension even when nothing is actively wrong — tight shoulders, poor sleep, a feeling of being constantly “on” — this is often what’s happening underneath. Slow, intentional touch activates the parasympathetic response, helping your body remember what calm actually feels like. Many guests say this is the part that turns a good massage into something they think about for days afterward.

Who Benefits Most

Therapeutic massage at Bodhi is used by guests dealing with chronic pain and tension headaches, stress and emotional overwhelm, athletic recovery and training support, postpartum body changes, desk-related postural tension, jaw clenching and TMJ discomfort, disrupted sleep, and general nervous system dysregulation. The 90-minute session is ideal for anyone with multiple areas of concern or who wants a comprehensive, unhurried experience.

Bodhi Salt Center employs three licensed massage therapists. Massage therapy is a complementary wellness practice and not a substitute for medical treatment.

Common Questions

Nope. Your therapist takes care of that. Just let them know where it hurts, what your stress level is like, and how much pressure feels right. They’ll blend the techniques from there. If you do have a preference — more deep tissue, lighter touch — they’re happy to follow your lead.
Yes. You can choose to receive your massage inside our active halotherapy salt room. While your therapist works, the halogenerator disperses pharmaceutical-grade salt particles into the air around you. It’s the same therapeutic massage with the added benefit of salt therapy for your lungs and skin. You can also choose a private treatment room if you prefer.
If you have one or two areas of concern and want to feel great afterward, 60 minutes is perfect. If you have multiple problem areas, chronic pain, or want your therapist to work your full body without any time pressure, go with 90 minutes. First-time guests often start with 60 and upgrade to 90 once they experience the difference.
We have three licensed massage therapists: Hannah Klewicki, Dasha Cutler, and Kate O’Brien. Each brings a different touch and specialty, but all are trained in the full range of techniques we offer. You can request a specific therapist when booking, or let us match you.
Just bring yourself. We provide a robe and everything you need. You’ll change in a private space before your session. Your therapist will step out and knock before re-entering. You’re draped throughout the session — only the area being worked on is exposed.
Two massage tables, two therapists, one room. You and your partner receive 60-minute therapeutic massages simultaneously. Each person’s session is still individually tailored — your therapist works on your specific tension patterns while your partner’s therapist does the same for them. Popular for date nights, anniversaries, and friends.
